Bangladesh-India relations - a brief update and a few questions / Part I

Syed Muhammad Hussain | 3 March 2013 5:15 pm

” Power will go to the hands of rascals, rogues, freebooters …..all Indian leaders will be of low calibre and men of straw. They will have sweet tongues and silly hearts. They will fight amongst themselves for power and India will be lost in political squabbles. A day would come when even air and water would be taxed in India.”

The statement above was made by Sir Winston Churchill about 70 years back, One can also ponder whether these comments apply to all the countries in the Indian sub-continent and whether these, predicted then, depict a fairly true picture at this point in time. Details…

A spark of new hope

aktuhin | 3 March 2013 5:13 pm

The one thought that I cannot purge, as I am sitting cross-legged on the street at Shabagh square and chanting death to the collaborators, is this: what will happen when all these war criminals are hanged? Will this put an end to the bickering politics, unbridled corruption and all other looming crisis that the nation is facing? And then, I have this epiphany: what is happening now could be the long-awaited youth awakening to build a beautiful Bangladesh. Details…

Please shut down school

Md.Zahidul Islam Milton | 9 January 2013 11:05 pm

Government should shut down all the schools throughout the country for two weeks due to the extreme cold. The whole country is now under the winter blow which is record in our country i.e 7.2 degree Celsius in Dhaka and 3.2 at Dinajpur recorded today. The ordinary people including the school goers are under threat and already died a dozen guys including children throughout the country today. Due to this abnormal cold wave the children may suffer from various diseases too. In rural areas like northern districts the scenery is the worst ever. Temperature in the morning is very lower and school going boys and girls are facing serious problem. Since this is the beginning of the new class, so the authority may make up the gap of the holidays in the coming months. Hope, the concerned will take necessary steps instantly.

Deploy armed forces in all activities

Romel Barua | 28 December 2012 11:23 pm

We are learning more about our armed forces, who remain busy in security purpose and emergencies. In Bangladesh, we have provision to deploy armed forces personnel for emergencies such as natural disasters. Apart from that, the Prime Minister and President can call upon them to take part in national discourses.

As we have a disciplined armed force we can think over some national activities fitted for them to man. You know, some troops had already been welcomed by African People for health care. We have read in Newspapers that they have cured many African people with prime success. As Art 15 of constitution is telling us to see about People we can easily deploy them in food security, shelter project for distressed, short training based educational need like medical-care and engineering task, satelite clinic, port regulation for controlling garment exports.

Glancing at the veterans in Iraq, we have seen that the troops are taking care of managerial & administrative duties in Iraq. Also, they are busy in rehabilitation work. Our people can take short engineering course in armed forces colleges. Even if we look into administrative training GoB official may take training from the Bangladesh troops.

For managing all, we need policy work only. We have already furnished laws to deploy them in higher administration.

Srejon Sharfenul | 20 December 2012 1:54 pm

Mostafa Kamal was a Sepoy of the 4th East Bengal Regiment. At the start of March, 4th Regiment was moved from Moynamati Cantonment to Brahmanbaria. After the incidents of 25 March, 4th Regiment successfully brought Brahmanbaria under control. Under the leadership of Major Shafayat Jamil, they revolted against the Pakistani officers and formed a Defense Camp at Brahmanbaria. 4th Regiment continued their battle against the Pakistan Army and eventually arrived at Aakhaura.

At Aakhaura, the 4th Regiment set their camp in Gangashagar and Talshahar. To avoid any unexpected attacked from the Pakistanis, 2nd Platoon of the company “Alpha” was sent to Daruin village. Mostafa Kamal was one of the section commanders of 2nd Platoon. On 16 April, Pakistan Army started to approach towards the Regiment camp. Dear Premier, please hang Biswajit killers

Md.Zahidul Islam Milton | 20 December 2012 1:51 pm

Recent brutality of killing of Biswajit, a poor young tailor at old Dhaka city, by the terrorists has shocked all walks of citizens around the country and I’d request the premier to instruct the concern to take the necessary steps for their capital punishment immediately in order to establish the rule of law, to protect human rights and to ensure the law and order situation in order in the country.

Respective law and order organs of the state to be careful to make public statement to the media, so that confusion may not arise among the citizens. No need to mention that on the eve of trial of the war criminals- government is facing a lot of pressure from the different groups and criticism from the opposition political alliance but hopefully, government will do the best maintaining their election manifesto for the betterment of the nation which will influence on their upcoming election too.

Steps against price rise

Steps against Price Rise
by Romel Barua

Due to drought in some countries the food price has gone above the line. Many LDC-countries had subsidised some sectors to manage the hike. In USA measures have been taken for the rise in petroleum.

In India, The Government has been closely monitoring the inflation situation with a view to protecting the common citizen against abnormal price rise. Our experience in the recent past has been that while prices of most manufactured goods and services have been reasonably stable, food prices have frequently risen at unacceptable rates. Details…

Our Youth Our Future

S. M. Rayhanul Islam | 8 December 2012 10:28 pm

There is a saying that ‘History is written by the old but made by the young’. Youth is the most valuable time of a person’s life. Youth is a guiding force for change. Hopes, dreams and futures of a nation are reflected through the young people. Our youths played a historical role in the Language Movement of 1952, the Liberation War in 1971, and also the Anti-autocratic Movement in 1990.

At present, the youth constitute one-third of our total population. But our parents, teachers and social workers are worried of our youths. Many of them think that youth means a person involved in eve-teasing, terrorist activities, taking drugs or deviated student politics. No doubt, in an era of rapid social degradation this is true. But it is one side of the coin. Details…

In fact from the elementary level we grow up learning that, “life is not a bed of roses .” But is it only me who finds life so easy? Or it’s actually easy? I am referring to the life that is totally wrapped up with the internet! Details…
