In Bangladesh, as is also so true in case of most of the developing countries in varying degrees,the rising prices of essentials, including the food items,in particular,have been posing a continued threat to the poor and also to the large sections of the low and fixed-income groups across the country.The availability of the basic food items at reasonable and affordable prices is not only to ensure that people do not go hungry, but also to provide nutrition and strength for the nation’s workforce.
