Every time I read and hear about Nepal, a sense of overwhelming nostalgia comes over. I am transported to that beautiful land that reclines so gracefully against the majestic Sagarmatha, the Himalayas, as we all know, in turn melt visually into the sky. Now and then that peak at the pinnacle, or Machepucheri – the fishtail or the other grand peaks become visible to the adoring eyes of the people of Nepal and the visitors alike. Details…

On 31 April Allah gave me another opportunity to visit Mahasthangarh. We reached the majestic ancient site at about 12 noon. Soon we started to walk along the great wall of Mahasthangarh, our version of Great Wall of China. Inside the wall there remain only the age-old ruins with high mounds of what used to be magnificent palaces here and there. Farmers have put the enchanted lands to good use by growing ground pumpkin here and there. However, the area is too vast and gaunt for the visitors to remain interested for long.

Many of the countries in the world are earning a lot of foreign currency from their tourism industry and the sea beach may be the topper according to the hierarchy amongst the events. Apart from different tourism spots, Kuakata, the sea beach of Bangladesh can be the place for the local and foreign tourists. Our government can take necessary initiatives to improve the sea beach facilities like roads, transport and security, hotel/motel accommodation. Publicity is needed to draw the attention of tourists from home and abroad, and in this way we could earn a lot of money from this spot. Even by the improvement of the said facilities the respective coastal areas also could be developed no doubt.
