Malaysian expatriates under-siege by Bangldeshi workers at Shanta Denims Limited

sdl_16.JPGOn 22nd March of 2012, an unforgettable traumatic “riot” hit us in the factory. Just because of the early leave for cricket and some hoax created by a few middle management employees, at around 1.20pm all workers ‘rioted’ and hit all the foreigners working or consulting in Shanta Denims Limited, in Dhaka EPZ, Savar.

One of the Production Managers, Christopher Pang Soon Hock, was seriously injured and had been hospitalised as he got his skull fractured. A report was filed in Ashulia Polica Station but the police haven’t taken any action yet. The BEPZA has started investigating instead.

I hope that police will take further action in no time. There are around 100 thousand (1 Lakh) Bangladeshis working in Malaysia and if no action is taken by now; it will affect the Bangladeshis working abroad, which has already happened to Saudi Arabia. We should take this issue as a serious offense and should take action accordingly.
