Dhaka University, Aug 9 (bdnews24.com) – At least two members of the Bangladesh Chhatra League's Dhaka University unit were injured in clashes on Thursday.

Proctor Amzad Ali and witnesses said Fazlul Karim Riyad of the Islamic Studies Department was attacked by Abdus Salam Shyamal of the Institute of Education and Research and his friends beside the DUCSU Building in the afternoon following an earlier dispute.

He was hacked with a machete, witnesses said. He took treatment at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) and returned to his dormitory, the Sergeant Zahurul Haque Hall.

Riyad's friends took revenge by knifing Shyamal, residing in the Jasimuddin Hall, near the Central Shaheed Minar later in the night.

He was admitted to DMCH after the attack.

Proctor Amzad visited him in the hospital.

"Steps will be taken against those linked with the incidents," he said.

Additional police were posted on the campus.
