Dhaka, Aug 10 (bdnews24.com)—Ten people including a policeman were injured when hawkers and shop-owners clashed at the Bangabandhu Avenue in Gulistan on Friday.
Violence broke out after a hawker had argued with 'Jahangir', owners of two shops 'Chayanika' and 'Adhunika' at Ramna Bhaban in the afternoon.
Jahangir and a group of people swopped on the hawkers selling children wear on the footpath around Ramna Bhaban at 3pm, said Kabir Hossain, one of the injured hawkers who was treated at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital.
"Jahangir wants us out of the footpath around Ramna Bhaban," said another injured hawker, Ramij Uddin.
Sub-inspector Motaleb was injured as police tried to bring the situation under control, said Paltan Police Station Officer-in-Charge Golam Sarwar.
Sarwar confirmed police have arrested Jahangir after the clash.
