'AL lying about Khaleda's China tour'
Tue, Oct 16th, 2012 6:09 pm BdST

Dhaka, Oct 16 (bdnews24.com)—The BNP on Tuesday accused the Awami League of running a propaganda over Khaleda Zia's ongoing visit to China.

"Awami League's Joint General Secretary Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif said the opposition leader has gone to China to destroy their relations with Bangladesh. That is incorrect," BNP's Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi told journalists.

Speaking at a press briefing at BNP's Naya Paltan headquarters in the morning, he said the ruling party was jealous of the opposition's 'positive politics'. "That's why they are making false remarks over the opposition chief's China tour."

Khaleda left Dhaka on Sunday and is currently now in China on a seven-day visit at the invitation of the Chinese Communist Party.

Rizvi on Tuesday said late President Ziaur Rahman had played a special role in building the relations between China and Bangladesh. "That's why China has a close relationship with Bangladesh."

He alleged that Hanif had lied about BNP Standing Committee Member Moudud Ahmed on Monday at a press conference.

"The ruling party is falsifying information and launching personal attacks to divert the people's attention after the incident at Ramu."

He said the BNP will take out a mass procession from in front of the Naya Paltan headquarters at 3pm on Wednesday to press for their demand of a non-party caretaker government and protesting against the present government's 'repression'.

Similar programmes will also take place at all the metropolitan cities and district headquarters at the same time.

"Our mass procession will be peaceful. We have already asked for permission from the police commissioner to hold the programme. We have already been assured to the permission."

BNP Chairperson's Advisor Dr AZM Jahid Hossain, Organising Secretary Fazlul Haque Milon, Jatiyatabadi Juba Dal Acting President Abdus Salam Azad and General Secretary Saiful Alam Nirob were also present at the press briefing.
